Roads
Petaling Jaya is well-connected to roads with Kuala Lumpur as well as throughout the whole nation. The main connecting road between Kuala Lumpur – Petaling Jaya is the Federal Highway through PJ Town and continues to Shah Alam, Klang and Pelabuhan Klang. The main connecting road for northern PJ is the Sprint Highway while Pantai Highway connects the southern areas of PJ.
Should the driver use the North-South Highway, the main exit to PJ is Subang, Damansara and Kota Damansara.
Railways
Light Rail Transit paths to Kelana Jaya (before known as PUTRA-LRT) connects central Kuala Lumpur to PJ Town and is a good way to avoid road traffic between these two destinations especially during peak hours. The main station in PJ is Taman Jaya (closest to PJ New Town), Asia Jaya (walking distance to KL-Klang bus stop), Taman Paramount and Kelana Jaya.
The electric railway KTM Commuters also stops in several places in PJ. The stations are Jalan Templer, Kampung Datuk Harun, Seri Setia and Setia Jaya which is in the Sentul-Pelabuhan Klang line.
Bus
To/From Kuala Lumpur: Petaling Jaya is connected with Kuala Lumpur by Rapid-KL busses and Metrobus. The main bus stops include Asia Jaya, Damansara Uptown and Bandar Utama. The main Rapid-KL road that connects Kuala Lumpur and PJ is T80 (from Shah Alam through the Federal Highway), T81 (from Subang through Federal Highway) and T82 (Bandar Utama). There are also connecting busses from PJ to Klang and Pelabuhan Klang which is provided by Transnasional (can be boarded in bus stations along the Federal Highway) and Putrajaya (Jalan T43 Rapid-KL from Bandar Utama).
To/From other destinations: Double-decker luxury busses Aeroline which operates between PJ and Singapore stops in two locations in PJ which is the Menara Axis (opposite the Asia Jaya LRT Station) and One Utama shopping center. From Menara Axis, there are four trips to Singapore per day (departs at 8:00, 9:30, 11:00, 18:00) while in One Utama, twice a day (departs at 10:00 and 18:30).
Taxi
All metered taxis that operate in Kuala Lumpur also operates in PJ.
