MBPJ FREE BUS SERVICE

Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Provides Free Bus Services for Petaling Jaya Residents

The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) continues its social responsibility to the residents of Petaling Jaya by offering free bus services in the Petaling Jaya area.

To implement this program, MBPJ has collaborated with Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, allocating 26 buses for residents to travel to destinations around Petaling Jaya City Centre.

MBPJ aims to increase the use of public transportation to help alleviate traffic congestion in Petaling Jaya, particularly during peak hours, and to reduce the reliance on private vehicles.

The free bus service operates from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily. It is equipped with free Wi-Fi, LED displays, and runs at a frequency of every 15 minutes, providing maximum convenience for Petaling Jaya residents.

The bus route covers a distance of 28 kilometers, starting from the Jalan PJS 3/2 Bus Hub, which is currently under development. The route passes through areas such as Jalan Klang Lama, Jalan Templer, Jalan Othman, Jalan Yong Shook Lin, around the city center in Section 52, Jalan Penchala, Jalan Semangat, Jalan Universiti, and Jalan Gasing.

Section 52 City Center has been selected as the pilot project for this free bus service route to support the implementation of the “PJ Livable City” initiative. This project is part of an effort to upgrade the city center, which includes key components such as a one-way street system, “Park & Ride”, “PJ Walk”, and more.

In addition to road system and street furniture upgrades, the one-way street system project also includes other development components such as landscaping work, installation of closed-circuit cameras (CCTV), new LED lighting systems, construction of covered pedestrian walkways, and bicycle lanes. These components align with MBPJ’s goal to create a Barrier-Free City and a Sustainable City.

This initiative also serves as a step to encourage the use of public transportation, especially in the city center.

The implementation of this free bus service is in line with MBPJ’s focus on developing efficient public transportation infrastructure and integrated traffic management systems to ensure the convenience and comfort of the surrounding residents.

MBPJ hopes all residents of Petaling Jaya will take advantage of this service.
